Employment Information

POLICE OFFICER

This recruitment is for full-time, sworn, law enforcement officer positions performing a variety of law enforcement and crime prevention work with the community, including patrol and investigation. Candidates must be able to work all shifts on a rotating basis, including weekends and holidays. The Scappoose Police Department provides a wide range of public services while carrying out the basic police mission; Officers should be willing to assist people with problems which may go beyond traditional police duties.

This is a position classified in the Scappoose Police Officers Guild. Pay: Range is $19.69 to $25.13 per hour

Education: High school graduation or equivalent

Physical Standards: Vision must be correctable to 20/20; weight must be in proportion to height; and must be able to maintain physical requirements of the position.

Special Requirements/Licenses: Valid Oregon Driver’s License with acceptable driving record at the time of employment. Must be 21 years of age. Must pass pre-employment physical and psychological examination and undergo in-depth background investigation prior to appointment. Must be of good moral character and integrity.

Application Process:

A completed City Employment Application must be submitted to the Scappoose Police Department prior to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010.

Lateral applicants must submit a photocopy of their certificate of completion from a basic police academy with their applications.

Applicants who meet the minimum job requirements will be required to take a written exam. Following the exam, a limited number of the most highly qualified applicants will be invited to proceed further in the selection process, which includes an oral board interview. Lateral applicants will not be required to take written or preliminary orals. Candidates will be notified of their status throughout the process.

Written test Wednesday October 6, 2010 at 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
Oral Boards Interviews Tuesday – October 19, 2010 starting at 9:00 am.
